Enhancing the Transient State Performance of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator Based Variable Speed Wind Turbines Using Power Converters Excitation Parameters

One of the ways generating electrical power from wind energy is by employing promising technology permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) variable speed turbine (VSWT). With daily increase and integration farms into traditional grids, it imperative to carry out transient stability studies generators in farms, order fulfill operational grid codes. To solve intricacies posed stochastic nature during states or faults, this paper presents enhancement PMSG considering excitation parameters insulated gate bipolar transistors (IGBTs) generator. The investigation was carried using turn on off resistances IGBTs converters turbine, different scenarios, with without over voltage protection scheme. A severe three-line-to-ground fault used test robustness rigidity controllers state. Furthermore, results obtained were compared those doubly fed induction (DFIG) turbine. evaluation system performance done computer “aided” design electromagnetic including DC (PSCAD/EMTDC) platform. same conditions operation investigating various scenarios considered study.
